FAQ
Q1 What type of work can you do?
A

Advertising design, photography, advertising planning, print work - anything visual.
For example: Newspaper and magazine advertising, menus, company business cards and stationery, pamphlets, catalogues, fliers / leaflets, logos, character design, company prospectuses, editorial design, billboards, furniture design and manufacture and web design. We will provide you with a quality product you can rely on. We can do anything.

Q2 Is it possible to have a consultation only?
A

Yes.
However, please avoid using our ideas with another company.
Before discussing design ideas, first we suggest trying to estimate the expenses involved and also comparing the actual cost and effect. Then you can decide whether you want to continue with us or go to another company.

Q3 Compared to other design companies, is Bamboo Design cheap?
A

We offer a quality product. We do not produce cheap thoughtless results.
If you get a good result from advertising only once, even though the budget is the same as other companies it feels like a bargain. If you have to advertise again and again with substandard materials, you may not be satisfied with the results, and will feel expensive. It is important focus on not only on cost but also on results and the effect on your company as a whole.

For example:
A customer came to Bamboo Design with a flier from a digital print shop. He wanted us to design a business card but get it printed at the print shop noted on the flier. The flier stated メ500 prints for 100 dollarsモ (meaning 500 prints per person at the very low cost of $100). The print shop was undoubtedly proud of the fact that they could offer this low price.

However, after considering our design, I got an estimate from the print shop we use regularly. Their quality is excellent and they only use offset printing methods. The job was company business cards for eight different people. Aside from the name, the format was exactly the same. Even though there was colour on both sides, for 500 cards per person (total 4000), the cost came to 450 dollars (on the other hand, if it was just one person it would have cost 185 dollars). In comparison, the customerユs print shop was offering $100 per person, which brought the price to $800, a massive difference.

The cost of design would fit into the difference making the total cost cheaper, but if it were for just one person I would recommend the $100 price even though the quality was a bit lower.

Q4 Are there circumstances in which a quote can change?
A

Yes.
First of all we come to an arrangement on what needs to be done, and after the client is happy with that we give quotes for all the different options we have to offer.
We get many clients that make rough changes from the original plan that they feel are necessary and we accept that, but we also get clients that want to add this and that and make various other dramatic changes deep into the process. As I mentioned earlier, in some cases what the client thinks may be a good idea is not always the most effective idea. So, in this situation, if the client wishes to change direction we will have to rethink the design and give a new quote.

Q5 Can you also do design for 3D objects like signboards and interiors?
A

Yes.
Basically, with visual things, if the medium of the final product changes it is only the manufacturing process that changes with it. The design process remains the same.

The process:
Meeting - give quote - present design idea - client confirms - work on design ミ send data to the manufacturer - show client prototype of how final product will look for confirmation - start construction / send out for printing - hand over to client.

We have the solidarity required with specialized people in related industries to achieve successful completion of this process.

Q6 Can I place an order from Japan?
A

Yes.
With printing, website design etcノ we have numerous connections in Japan and we have working relationships with various companies so we can design something in New Zealand and print in Japan or vice versa.

When estimating your budget (wages/pay) please consider the fact that New Zealand is less expensive.

Q7 What happens if a client wants to quite halfway through a project?
A

It depends on the process but, we think the best way to handle this situation is to give a quote for the work done up until that point.

Also, if for some reason you are not satisfied with the final product or you are unsatisfied with the photography or design, we will (in some cases) negotiate on the price provided there is a valid reason.

Q8 Can you also do photographic work?
A

Yes.
You can trust Bamboo Design to take care of all your photographic needs. We have extensive experience and all kinds of camera equipment at our disposal. It is possible to do only photographs, but bear in mind that photography is particularly effective with catalogues and pamphlets etc...

We will know how the finished design looks so we are able to take the photographs quickly with that in mind and with control over all stages of the project we can use our time efficiently and keep the budget to a minimum. We can also show you a rough that is close to the final product for your confirmation. (There will be little difference between the rough and the final product so you know what to expect).

We also do individual portraits, product photos, regional field trips to cover events, and layout.

Q9 What happens if there are spelling mistakes and so on in the final print?
A

We have a process that requires the client to confirm that there are no mistakes when the design is still in its rough stage. After that has been done, apart from any obvious errors made by our company we feel we shouldnユt be held responsible for such mistakes so please be careful.

Providing the content (including correct spelling and grammar) is the clientユs responsibility, so please prepare a digitised copy of the information on disk. We donユt mind what type of word processor or software you use.
